Halloween Tales

In my last posting I documented how creepy we Floridians can be - and also bragged to you that we have the best trials ever!

Here's proof.  (And, trust me, this is way creepier than anything you're going to experience on Halloween.)

Yesterday, Kimberly Boone was tried and convicted for trying to kill her husband.  I don't think Kimberly's a very dangerous person because she's pretty inept.  Try as she did, she couldn't get the job done.

OK, for those of you who've tried to get it straight via the newspapers or Internet - here it is in a nutshell.

***

In 2008 Kimberly was having money problems.  Apparently she had embezzled $700,000 and needed to pay it back.  Obviously the only thing she could do was drug her husband with some of her Zanax and set the house on fire.

Husband, Bob, testified that, after she gave him a drink, he felt like he was having a stroke and asked her to take him to the hospital.  She told him to take a nap while she went shopping. As soon as he was unconscious, she lit the place up - then went shopping.  Fortunately, Bob was saved by a neighbor.

But, despite overwhelming evidence, she was not charged for this crime.

Three months later, in 2009  Kimberly allegedly shot her husband in the chest.  Miraculously, he survived. But, this time, she was arrested and tried for attempted murder.  Despite overwhelming evidence, she was found not guilty.

But....prosecutors began thinking about that fire three months prior - and then charged her with the 2008  attempted murder.

At the latest trial (for the first attempted murder) her first husband testified that she tried to set him on fire as well.

Let's think for a minute about husband Bob's continuing to come back for more.

When found guilty yesterday, Kimberly's attorney, Buck Blankner, Jr., immediately asked for a retrial.

And there you have it.
